For trolling would also suggest using one of those large feather tails have no idea what their name is but know that has one but it sounds like you catch good amount of those large feather tails have no idea what their name is.

A large minnow, like a shiner or shad, and yes, use a steel leader if you don’t want to lose a big one.
You could also throw a daredevil-type spoon.
